Pastor’s Thoughts – Autumn 2025
Dear friends,
The seasons roll on and we move into a new period in the Church’s life. The change of season always marks the end of one thing and the beginning of something new. For us Autumn marks the beginning of a new school year and with it the beginning of what feels like a new year for the Church. Some of you reading this letter will be new to the cChurch – Welcome! We pray that you will soon find your place here, make friends and discover how to use your gifts.
What will be ending in this season?
Well soon enough we will be saying farewell to Gustavo, Marcela, Davi and Isabella. Their final Sunday with us will be 26 October and we will be giving thanks to the Lord for all of their service with us. It will be a sad day but it will also be the beginning of something new for them as the Lord takes them to a new season in their lives. Keep an eye open for details of how we will be celebrating their time with us.
Meanwhile I will be here a little longer and I value your prayers as Steph and I look to find the right place to move to. The Leadership Team are busily involved in seeking the Lord for the next Senior Minister that He is calling to serve here. I know this makes many of you nervous but I want to remind you that the Lord does know what He’s doing!!! You can trust Him to bring the right person to us to keep us moving forward. You have an excellent Leadership Team and I trust them all to guide you in the right way.
What will be starting in this season?
Many of you will be aware that Jordan Smith is beginning a new season in his life as he takes on the role of Youth and Children’s Worker at New Malden Baptist Church. It is exciting for us to see someone who walked through these doors as a young person eager to know more about who Jesus was now being sent out to teach others the same thing. Please pray for him as he settles into this new role.
What about you? What will you be starting this season?
Well if you are not part of a Life Group, now would be an excellent time to join one. We want everyone in the Church to be growing in their relationship with the Lord Jesus, and Life Groups are really helpful for this. In a Life Group you get to know a small group of people really well. You can study God’s Word and ask questions. You can pray for each other’s needs and care for anyone that is in need. It’s the Church broken down into a bite-sized piece.
How about finding a new place to serve?
We always have places where you can get involved if you are not already. If you are already serving there’s nothing wrong with changing what you are doing – there are seasons in serving for us all and maybe you feel called to volunteer somewhere new.
Paul reminds us: Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
1 Corinthians 12:27.
This is your church. Welcome to a new season!
